'The Color Purple' is without doubt Steven Spielbergs' most overlooked film. The film tells the story of a young black woman named Celie growing up in Southern America between the two wars. Whoopi Goldberg gives the greatest performance of her career in her debut role as Celie. Danny Glover, Oprah Winfrey, Rae Dawn Chong and Margaret Avery are all also fantastic in support. The film is based upon Alice Walkers' outstanding novel, although there are a few differences. 10/10
